Engineer Mountain
At the first plateau above the trailhead beautiful views into the Weminuche Wilderness are at hand.

Ever feel like you are being watched?
We found this tree growing at the top of the rock in the center of the picture. Unfortunately the tree will end up destroying the rock at some point in its life which will likely end its life.
The first clear sight of Engineer Mountain is breathtaking. The ascent ridge is the closest - the east ridge.
Engineer's famous ridge - the sidewalk in the sky - is a relatively wide ridge with excellent rock. Much traffic over the years has created a well-packed trail along the ridge.
The summit offers views well into the Weminuche Wilderness to the east.

Because the clouds were building rapidly above us on the summit we decided to head back down. Two climbers from Czeckoslovakia stayed a few moments later on the summit.

Where the trail ends. At this point you step off onto a steep slope to the east and traverse about 70 feet down a knife-edge until you can jump down into a small chute.
This is the steep slope you navigate to get down to the chute just left of the knob.
Quite a bit of rain came down on us after the summit yielding beautiful ethereal qualities to the mountains.
