Thesis

From June, 1998, to December, 2000, Shane's life became dedicated to the pursuit of a Master's Degree in geotechnical engineering at the University of British Columbia. The thesis topic was Geogrid-Soil Interaction Coefficients for Seismic Design, aimed at addressing the performance of geogrid (plastic sheets punched and drawn or plastic strips woven into a grid) embedded into soil and subjected to dynamic pullout loads. This has significance for mechanically-stabilized earth (MSE) walls and slopes in seismically active areas of the world.

If this doesn't completely bore you or turn you off, you indeed are one bored schmuck (a geotechnical engineer) in search of more "dirt". In which case, read on.
